The College Board

Website Redesign

Challenge

To redesign the professional area of the College Board website and in the process reposition the organization as a trusted educational partner. The College Board is a nonprofit membership association that connects students to college success. Best known for the SAT and Advanced Placement programs, the College Board serves more than seven million students and their parents, 23,000 high schools and 3,500 colleges each year.

Solution

Worked on five-person Siegel+Gale team, and then directly with the College Board team, to concept, create and launch a streamlined, user-centric site. As Content Strategist I served as lead to create:

Content Matrix: Worked with information architects to inventory existing pages, establish new site hierarchy and concept content migration/creation methodology.

Content Strategy: Worked with team lead to create and articulate guiding strategy for content creation.

Message Matrix: Wrote key messages and created matrix that tailored key messages to primary education professional user groups.

Content Implementation Guidelines: Created manual to guide content creation aligned with content strategy.

ā€‹

Content Examples: Drafted 17 content examples to illustrate content strategy.

ā€‹

Writing Workshops: Led two writing workshops for College Board senior staff, management and editorial team. Introduced Content Implementation Guidelines, examined internal and external web pages, discussed content examples and led group conversations on best practices and creative approaches. Workshops served to unite team around new direction and convey key content creation concepts.
